Lemon Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 tsp. (1/2 oz.) baking ammonia
    1 c. milk
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    5 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. oil of lemon
Preparation
    Dissolve ammonia in milk at least 1/2 hour before baking. Cream the shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add beaten eggs.
    Mix well. Add part of flour and salt alternately with milk mixture and oil of lemon. Mix well, adding flour until dough is easy to handle. Roll out about 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick. Cut out and bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes, just until they are lightly brown. Cookies can be frosted.
