Ingredients

1 beaten egg
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or oleo
1 (8 oz.) chopped dates
1/4 c. finely chopped nuts
1/4 c. candy orange slices (about 5), cut in pieces
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. crispy rice cereal
Preparation

In heavy skillet, over low heat, cook egg, sugar, oleo and dates over low heat until dates pull away from sides of skillet. Add nuts, orange slices and vanilla. Pour over rice cereal. Stir well and cool. Roll into 1-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar. Depending on size, this recipe makes 40 to 48 cookies.
