Squash Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. warm water or milk
    1 egg
Preparation
    Sift first three ingredients together and stir in beaten egg. Add water or milk to make a soft dough.
    Round up on lightly floured cloth or board.
    Knead lightly.
    Roll or pat out 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut into strips about 2 x 3-inches.
    Slit the center of dough.
    Drop in deep fat; brown on one side, then turn over and brown the other.
    Serve with pinto beans, stew or syrup.
