Ingredients

2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter/margarine
1 slightly beaten egg
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. almond extract
24 blanched almonds, halved
Preparation

Stir together flour, sugar, soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Cut in butter until mixture forms fine crumbs.
Combine egg, milk and almond extract.
Add to flour mixture; mix well.
Shape into 1-inch balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Place almond half on top of each.
Press to flatten slightly.
Bake in 325\u00b0 oven for 16 to 18 minutes.
Makes 4 dozen.
