Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 heaping Tbsp. butter or shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. boiling water
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts
1 pkg. small dates
Preparation

Cut dates in half or smaller.
Pour boiling water over dates. Let stand while you cream shortening.
Add sugar and egg.
Beat well.
Drain water from dates.
Add flour, soda and salt; sifted together.
Beat well.
Add dates, nuts and vanilla.
Bake in loaf pan at 350\u00b0.
Makes 2 small loaf pans or 1 long loaf pan.
