Ingredients

1 c. softened butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
enough flour to make a soft dough
Preparation

Combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy.
Add soda into buttermilk and add to first mixture.
Add flour to make a soft cookie dough.
(Too much flour makes cookies too firm.)
Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface to approximately 1/3-inch thick and cut out your favorite cookie shapes with cookie cutters. Bake in a moderate oven (325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0) until very lightly browned or about 8 to 10 minutes.
Cookies too brown causes them to be very hard and undesirable.
