Bread In A Jar - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. vegetable shortening
    4 eggs
    2/3 c. water
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    fruit (your choice 2 c. chopped apples or 2 c. shredded carrots or 2 c. mashed bananas, or 1 1/2 c. applesauce or 1 c. grated zucchini)
Preparation
    Grease insides of 6 wide-mouth canning jars (1 pint size), but not the rims.
    Place on baking sheet.
    Cream the sugar and shortening.
    Beat in eggs and water.
    Add fruit.
    Sift flour, cinnamon, baking powder, soda and salt together.
    Add to batter. If desired, add raisins and/or nuts.
    Put 1 cup of batter into each jar (no more).
    Bake 45 minutes at 325\u00b0.
    Remove from oven; wipe rims.
    Cover with hot, flat canning lids and screw tightly.
