Old Fashioned Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. scalded milk (cool until warm)
    3 c. flour plus 2 tsp. shortening
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 egg, beaten stiff
    1 pkg. yeast (not quick rising yeast)
Preparation
    Place sugar over yeast; use enough water or milk to dissolve. Add milk and egg.
    Add flour, shortening and salt.
    Mix well.
    Let rise 2 hours.
    Roll out and let rise for 1 hour.
    Bake in well-greased loaf pan in 400\u00b0 oven for 25 minutes.
