Ingredients
-
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 c. shortening
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour (I use 3 c.)
1 tsp. soda
Preparation
-
Cream the sugars and shortening.
After well mixed, add in the peanut butter; mix well. Stir in salt, vanilla, soda and beaten eggs.
Add flour, mixing well. Chill dough for easier handling. Shape into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased cookie pans. Flatten dough balls with fork. A meat tenderizer utensil works even better and makes a decorative pattern in cookie dough.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes.
After taking the pans from the oven, let them set a couple of minutes for cookies to firm.
To decorate for holiday season, before baking sprinkle colored sugar on top of dough.
