Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1 beaten egg
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. Angel Flake coconut
Preparation

Mix shortening and sugar until creamy.
Add egg.
Add sifted dry ingredients.
Stir in coconut and vanilla.
Roll dough into small balls.
Dip top of cookie into water, then into white sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet 12 to 15 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven. Makes 4 dozen.
