Ingredients

1 c. margarine
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
preserves or nuts
Preparation

Cream margarine and sugar.
Add vanilla.
Add flour and salt; mix well.
Shape rounded tablespoonfuls of dough into balls; place on cookie sheet.
Indent centers; fill with preserves or nuts. Dough can also be put in a cookie press and, instead of preserves, can be decorated with sprinkles or large pieces of nuts.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen.
