Almond Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/3 c. shortening
    1 egg
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. alt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
    red food coloring
Preparation
    Place sugar, shortening and egg in mixing bowl and mix very well with wooden spoon.
    Add flour, salt and baking soda to the shortening mixture.
    Mix well and add almond extract.
    Makes small balls out of the dough, using a small scoop such as a melon baller or your hands.
    Put the balls on ungreased cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.
    Flatten the dough by pressing gently with two fingers.
    Put a few drops of red food coloring in a measuring cup, dip end of a chopstick in it and place a red dot in the center of each cookie.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
