Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 Tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts, chopped (either walnuts or pecans)
Preparation

Whip shortening, adding both sugars.
Add lightly beaten eggs, hot water and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients along with chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop large chunks of dough onto a greased cookie sheet and flatten slightly.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
