White Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. milk
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. shortening
3 to 3 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Scald milk; add salt, sugar and shortening.
Cool to lukewarm. Crumble or sprinkle yeast into warm water in large mixing bowl; stir to dissolve yeast.
Add 1/3 of flour and beat until smooth. Add remaining flour and gradually to make a soft dough which leaves the sides of bowl.
Turn out dough onto floured board.
With floured hands, knead dough until it is smooth and elastic, about 5 to 10 minutes.
