Candy Cane Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Mix thoroughly together the first 5 ingredients.
    Sift together flour and salt and stir in.
    Divide into 2 halves. Blend into one-half of dough, 1/2 teaspoon of red food coloring. Roll 1 teaspoon each color dough into a strip, about 4 inches long.
    Place strips, side by side; press lightly together and twist like a rope.
