Grandma'S Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. molasses
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, mixed with 3 Tbsp. boiling water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 c. flour (to start, add more later)
    1 c. shortening
    3/4 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients together. Chill dough as it will roll easier. May need to add flour as you roll out dough.
    Cut with cookie cutter.
    Bake at 365\u00b0 for 6 to 7 minutes.
    These are chewy.
