Ingredients

1 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
2 Tbsp. molasses
2 c. raisins, floured
2 c. dates, chopped and floured
4 c. canned fruits (crushed pineapple, peaches, pears, applesauce, maraschino cherries)
1 1/2 c. nuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. grated lemon rind
2 tsp. grated orange rind
juice from 2 lemons
juice from 2 oranges
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 3 Tbsp. hot water
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Cream Crisco and sugar.
Add eggs and molasses; mix well.
Add fruits, nuts, dates, vanilla, soda, water, then flour, spices and salt which have been sifted together.
Drop by spoonful onto well-greased and floured cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
Remove to rack to cool.
