Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. dates, cut up
    1 1/2 c. boiling water
    2 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    1 1/2 c. brown sugar
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Cover dates with boiling water; add the butter and let cool. Add brown sugar.
    Stir together flour, soda, baking powder and salt.
    Combine egg, date mixture and flour.
    Mix vanilla and walnuts into mixture.
