Ingredients

3/4 c. shortening or oil
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream the shortening and sugar. Add molasses and egg; beat well.
Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Chill. Form 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
