Banana Nut Bread - cooking recipe

2/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. mashed bananas (2 or 3)
3 Tbsp. buttermilk
2 c. sifted self-rising flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease bottom of a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
Add eggs, bananas and buttermilk.
Mix well.
Add flour and baking soda.
Blend well; stir in nuts.
Pour in greased pan.
Bake 50 to 60 minutes; test with a toothpick inserted in center.
Cool in pan 10 minutes. Loosen sides with a knife and turn out onto a wire rack or serving plate to cool.
