Candied Orange Bread(Bread And Butter Sandwiches) - cooking recipe

2 large oranges
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. butter
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Pare orange peel with sharp knife and cut into slivers.
Cover with cold water and bring to a boil.
Pour off the hot water and cover with cold water.
Bring to boil and simmer 5 minutes.
Drain water and add 1/2 cup sugar.
Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and syrupy.
Cool.
Beat eggs until light.
Beat in 1 cup sugar and milk.
Stir in candied orange peel and melted butter. Sift together remaining dry ingredients, add to egg mixture.
Stir just until blended.
Fold in walnuts, pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
