Ingredients

2 c. rolled oats
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. hot water
1/2 c. shortening, melted and cooled
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

In a bowl combine oats, sugars, flour and salt.
Combine soda and water; stir into dry mixture along with shortening and vanilla.
Roll into walnut size balls.
Place on greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow to cool on pan for 2 minutes before removing to wire rack.
