Grandma'S Brown Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 egg
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 lb. or 1 c. raisins
    1 3/4 to 2 c. water
Preparation
    Mix together sugar and shortening. Add egg, flour, salt and baking soda.
    Boil raisins in water for 5 minutes.
    Add raisins to rest of ingredients (water, too), when raisins cool.
    Pour in loaf pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 50 to 60 minutes.
