Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. shortening
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    2 c. sugar
    2 egg yolks
    1 c. evaporated milk (Carnation)
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Sift first 3 ingredients; set aside.
    Cream shortening and extract together.
    Add sugar; beat until fluffy.
    Add egg yolks, beating thoroughly.
    Mixing until well blended after each addition, alternately add dry ingredients in fourths and a mixture of evaporated milk and lemon juice in thirds to the creamed mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks are formed; fold into batter. Drop by tablespoon 3-inches apart onto a greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
    Remove cookies to cooling rack.
    Makes around 5 dozen.
