Steamed Brown Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. graham flour
1 c. sour or buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
3 Tbsp. molasses
1 c. dates, cut up
1 c. raisins and nuts
Preparation

Mix
sugar
and
eggs well.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately
with
milk
and molasses.
Add dates, raisins and nuts.
Pour
into
greased\tvegetable cans.
Partly cover cans with
aluminum foil.
Set in bottom of large kettle that has a good
cover.
Add 3-inches of water in kettle.
Cook on burner 1 1/2
hours.
Partly
cool;\tcarefully cut out the bottom of can and push it against the bread to remove from can.
Freezes good.
