Ingredients

1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter flavor shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 egg
1 1/4 c. flour (all-purpose)
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. chopped pecans (optional)
Preparation

Mix sugars, shortening, peanut butter and egg.
Stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and pecans.
Heat oven to 375\u00b0. Shape dough into 1 1/4-inch balls.
Place about 3-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Flatten in crisscross pattern with fork dipped in flour.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes about 3 dozen.
