Ingredients

4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk (sour)
Preparation

Beat shortening with vanilla in a large bowl.
Add sugar gradually, creaming thoroughly.
Beat in the eggs until mixture is light and fluffy.
Add dry ingredients in fourths, alternating with milk in thirds to creamed mixture, beating only until blended.
