Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. quick cooking oats
1 c. whole wheat flakes cereal
1/2 c. shredded coconut
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
Mix shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients thoroughly (dough will be stiff). Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake until set but not hard, 9 to 11 minutes.
Cool about 3 minutes before removing from cookie sheet. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
