Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. flour, sifted
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs, well beaten
    grated rind of 1 lemon
    1 Tbsp. rich milk or cream
Preparation
    Sift flour once; measure.
    Add baking powder and nutmeg, then sift together twice.
    Cream butter, adding sugar gradually, until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs, lemon rind and cream or milk; beat well.
    Roll into a thin sheet on slightly floured board.
    Cut with floured cutter and dredge with sugar.
    Bake in a 400\u00b0 oven for 7 minutes.
    This makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies, 3-inches in diameter. These may also be cut into fancy shapes and sprinkled with colored sugar.
