2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 c. flour
1/4 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 (12 oz.) jar butterscotch or caramel ice cream topping
1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream
Preparation

Combine flour, oats and brown sugar.
Cut in butter or margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in nuts. Pat mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
Bake in 400\u00b0 oven for 15 minutes. Stir while still warm to crumble; cool.
