Cranberry Bread - cooking recipe

2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
3/4 c. orange juice
1 Tbsp. grated orange peel
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 c. fresh cranberries, halved
1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients.
Add orange peel, shortening, egg and orange juice.
Mix quickly, but well.
Add cranberries and nuts.
Blend.
Pour into a well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool thoroughly before slicing.
