Ingredients

1 c. sweet butter
1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. almonds, ground
3 1/4 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
2 c. sugar
2 egg whites, beaten
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 egg white
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
Preparation

Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy.
Blend in beaten egg and whites.
Add almonds and vanilla; stir well. Gradually add flour, stirring well between each addition.
Drop cookie dough in balls onto greased cookie sheet.
Brush cookies with mixture of 1 egg white, 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar and 2 tablespoons lemon juice.
Bake in preheated oven at 325 \u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes, or until light, golden brown.
Makes 3 dozen cookies.
