Mary'S Banana Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. shortening (I use butter flavor Crisco)
2 eggs
3 medium ripe bananas
2 Tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
pinch of salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour (all-purpose or unbleached)
1/2 to 1 c. chopped nuts (if you don't like or can't eat nuts, omit them)
Preparation

Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Set aside.
Mash bananas and set aside.
Cream the sugar and shortening until well blended.
Add eggs and mix well. Add buttermilk and vanilla; mix well.
Add mashed bananas (about 1/2 at a time) and mix well after each addition.
Add dry ingredients (about 1/2 at a time) and mix well after each addition.
Add chopped nuts and stir in with spatula or spoon.
Spray loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray and pour batter into pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes to 1 hour. (Toothpick inserted in center should come out clean.) Cool. Can freeze or refrigerate.
