Ingredients

2 c. shortening
2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
3 Tbsp. water
3 c. quick cooking oats (uncooked)
1 (3 1/2 oz.) can flaked coconut
20 candy orange slices, finely chopped
Preparation

Cream the shortening in a large mixing bowl.
Gradually add sugars, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer.
Add eggs; beat well.
Combine flour, soda and baking powder.
Add to creamed mixture and mix.
Stir in water, oats, coconut and candy.
Chill dough at least 1 hour.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls or roll into balls.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 12 minutes or until browned.
Cool.
