Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. water
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. oatmeal
3/4 c. gumdrops, cut into small pieces
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cream sugars and butter until light and fluffy.
Add egg, rind, vanilla and water.
Beat well.
Sift dry ingredients and mix into creamed mixture.
Stir in oats, gumdrops and nuts.
Shape into a roll, wrap in waxed paper and chill until firm.
Slice and bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 350\u00b0 oven for 12 minutes.
