Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp. each: baking soda and salt
1 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces (2 c.)
1 c. chopped nuts
confectioners sugar (for decoration, optional)
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Mix flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; set aside.
Cream butter well and gradually beat in sugar until mixture is light and fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla until well blended.
Stir in chocolate and nuts.
Gradually stir in flour mixture until well blended.
Chill dough 30 minutes or until firm enough to handle.
