Aunt Jo'S Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening or 3/4 c. Crisco oil
    2/3 c. molasses
    2 tsp. baking soda
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ginger
    3 c. flour
    1/3 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
Preparation
    Sift the dry ingredients and set aside.
    Mix the shortening with the brown sugar.
    Add the egg and mix.
    Add the dry ingredients to the liquid mixture.
    Roll into 2 (1 1/2-inch) logs. Wrap in wax paper and refrigerate 2 to 3 hours or overnight. Slice thinly, 1/4 to 1/2-inch.
    Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
    Store in an airtight container. To keep the cookies from getting too crisp, place a slice of bread in the container.
