Ingredients

4 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. salad oil
1 c. confectioners sugar
granulated sugar
Preparation

In medium bowl, combine first 4 ingredients; set aside.
In large mixer bowl with mixer at medium speed, cream butter, salad oil, confectioners sugar and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla and continue beating, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
Gradually add dry ingredients and continue mixing until just combined.
Wrap and refrigerate dough at least 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease 2 large cookie sheets; set aside.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in additional granulated sugar.
Place on cookie sheets.
Press each ball with a fork.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
Remove immediately to wire racks to cool.
Makes 12 dozen.
