Ingredients

1 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream the butter and sugar.
Beat in egg.
Combine and add flour, salt and vanilla.
Chill dough 3 to 4 hours (this is the secret to success!).
Roll out in 2 pieces of waxed paper.
Cut. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
Yields 60 (2-inch) cookies.
