Almond Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. butter, softened
    1 egg, beaten
    1 Tbsp. almond extract
    split blanched almonds
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients into bowl.
    Cut in butter.
    Mix remaining ingredients, except almonds, and stir in.
    Shape in 1-inch balls and put on cookie sheets.
    Flatten balls to 1/4 inch thickness with a glass covered with wax paper.
    Put an almond half in the center of each.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes.
    Makes about 6 1/2 dozen.
