Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. dates
1 1/2 c. boiling water
3 Tbsp. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Pour hot water over cut dates. Add shortening.
Let cool, then add sugar, slightly beaten eggs and vanilla.
Mix these ingredients, then add flour, soda and cream of tartar, then fold chopped nuts in last.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center of loaf comes out clean.
Use 2 medium size bread pans.
