Date Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. nuts (optional)
    1/2 lb. pkg. dates
    1 c. boiling water
    1 egg
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. flour
Preparation
    Cut up dates; pour boiling water over them and let cool.
    Sift and measure flour; add baking soda, baking powder and salt.
    Mix sugar, egg and vanilla.
    Add date mixture and dry ingredients. Bake in loaf pan in a 350\u00b0 oven about 1 hour.
