Surprise Filled Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. salted butter, softened
    1 c. sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c. fruit jam
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 large egg
Preparation
    Combine flour and baking powder.
    Mix well and set aside. Cream butter and sugar very well.
    Add egg and vanilla and beat on medium speed until smooth.
    Add flour mixture and blend at low speed until thoroughly combined.
    Dough will be firm.
    Roll tablespoons of dough into 1-inch balls and place on ungreased baking sheet one-inch apart.
    Using small end of melon baller, scoop out the center of the dough balls.
    Do not scoop all the way through the cookies.
    Place 1/2 teaspoon of jam in the center of each dough ball.
    Bake at 300\u00b0 for 22 to 24 minutes or until golden brown.
    Yields 4 dozen.
