Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/4 lb. margarine
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. raisins
1 Tbsp. caraway seed
Preparation

Cream margarine and sugar in large mixing bowl.
In a separate small bowl, beat together egg and buttermilk, then add to margarine/sugar until well mixed.
Combine in a mixing bowl the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Mix together dry and wet ingredients alternating in small amounts until well mixed. Add raisins and caraway seed to batter.
Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.
Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
(If a glass loaf pan is used, reduce temperature to 325\u00b0.)
Test for doneness with a pick in center that comes out clean.
Yield:
1 large (9 x 5-inch) loaf.
