Grandma Shuler'S Ginger Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 c. dark Karo syrup
    1/2 c. molasses
    1/4 c. water with 1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in it
    5 c. flour
Preparation
    Cream sugar, shortening, cinnamon, ginger, ground cloves and salt.
    Add 2 eggs and mix well.
    Add syrup.
    Add molasses and mix. Mix in flour.
    Save about 1 cup flour for rolling dough. Refrigerate dough a couple of hours or more.
    Roll and bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
    Sugar tops of cookies after they are rolled.
