Ingredients

1/2 c. lard
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
pinch of salt
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
Preparation

Cream lard and butter. Add sugar; blend until light. Add egg; continue to beat. Add vanilla and dry ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet; flatten with fork. Brush with cream, sprinkle with sugar, and bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
