Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. New Orleans molasses
1 c. margarine
2 eggs
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 Tbsp. ginger
4 level tsp. soda
5 c. flour
Preparation

Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs.
Beat well.
Stir in the molasses.
Put 1 teaspoon soda in sour milk and add the rest of the soda to the flour.
(This makes a soft dough and will puff up beautifully.)
Drop by small spoonfuls into well-greased and floured pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
