Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
1 c. crunchy peanut butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift together first 4 ingredients.
Mix shortening, sugar and peanut butter until creamy.
Add vanilla and blend well.
Roll dough into balls about the size of a walnut.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Make a crisscross design on each cookie with a fork.
Bake at 350\u00b0 about 12 minutes.
Makes about 5 dozen.
