Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. molasses
4 c. flour (1 c. more may be needed)
1 tsp. ground ginger
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Stir in molasses. Add dry ingredients; mix thoroughly. Chill dough. Roll on floured cloth, 1/4-inch thickness. Sprinkle with sugar. Roll to make sugar thick. Cut with floured cutter.
Bake on lightly greased sheet at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
A raisin may be placed in center of cookie if desired.
