Anadama Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. yellow corn meal
1/2 c. molasses
6 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 c. boiling water
2 pkg. dry yeast
1 c. milk, scalded
2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Stir corn meal slowly into combined hot milk and water.
Add shortening, molasses and salt.
Let stand until lukewarm. Sprinkle yeast into warm water.
Stir into corn meal mixture alternately with flour.
Knead about 7 minutes.
Place in greased bowl; turn once to bring greased side up.
Cover and let rise about 1 1/2 hours.
Knead down and shape into 2 loaves.
Cover and let rise about 45 minutes.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 40 to 50 minutes. Butter top of loaves when done.
